ロイヤルファミリーを訪ねて

カメラの写真を落とすのをすっかり忘れていて、久しぶりな更新になってしまいました。

先日も書きましたが、最近は晴れの日が続いているので、夜遅くに自転車こいでるとこんな星空が広がってることがしばしばあります。

先週末もロンドンに出ていました。今回はロイヤルファミリー関連の施設に行ってみました。

まずは、言わずと知れたバッキンガム宮殿です。8月9月はエリザベス女王が不在のため、内部が公開されています。20年位前のウインザー城の火災修繕費ねん出のためだそうですが、もうそろそろ修繕費稼ぎ終わったやろっていうくらいの値段でした。

この衛兵の帽子もイギリスと言えば、っていう感じの帽子ですね。ぶっちゃけ顔よりでかいです。

セキュリティの関係上、バッキンガム宮殿の内部は撮影禁止になっています。各部屋ともに煌びやかな装飾が施されていて、天井の高さも普通の家の2倍以上、それぞれの部屋の役割が決まっていてとても面白かったです。説明では、ある部屋にあった大きな鏡が王室一家の暮らす部屋に向かう秘密の通路への入り口になっているとか。その鏡の横にはちゃんとスイッチがあることを確認しました。(笑)世界史の教科書で見たことある!みたいな肖像画もいくつかあって感激しました。特に、晩餐会の会場は圧倒できな広さでした。また、女王の装飾品も展示されていて、中でも20カラットを超えるダイヤの首飾りは非常に大きくて存在感がすごかったです。僕の貧相なボキャブラリーで説明できるのはこれくらいなので、ロンドンを夏に訪れる際はぜひ行ってみてください。

バッキンガム宮殿からウエストミンスター方面への並木道を歩いていると、何匹もリスがいました。意外と自然豊かです。

騎馬隊の人。一人で馬に乗って何をしているのかは全く不明です。

ウエストミンスター寺院です。故ダイアナ妃の葬儀が行われた場所としても知られています。ちなみに結婚式は先日行ったセントポール大聖堂で行われたようです。また、このウエストミンスター寺院には数々の王族を中心とした人々が埋葬されているんですが、ニュートンやダーウィンも埋葬されているらしいです。偉人クラスになるとさすが扱いが違います。そして、ここのために作曲されたウエストミンスターの鐘という曲は学校でよく聞くあのキンコンカンコーンのチャイムらしいです。

そのまま行くとビッグベンに到着。

やっぱりでかい。

そこからトラファルガー広場へ向かっていくと、人だかりができてました。パトカーや白バイなどが駆け抜けて物々しい雰囲気の中…

大量の自転車乗り!!!

この日はツアーオブブリテンというツールドフランスのイギリス版みたいなやつの日だったらしく、ロンドン市内のいろいろなところを自転車が走っていたようです。

にしても速い！

トラファルガー広場にはいくつか面白いモニュメントがありました。

ピカデリーサーカスではシャンパンファイトが行われていました。

行こうと思っていた店が片っ端から閉店していたので、くいっぱぐれてソーホー地区をぶらついていたら、日本食屋を見つけました。だしの味がうれしかったです。

このあと夜のロンドンで1杯ずつ３軒はしごして帰りました。

I completely forgot to download pictures from my camera, so it has been long time since the last update.

I wrote this at the last time, but these days were fortunately almost clear days, so when I go back to home in late, I often see the nice sky with full of stars.

The last weekend, I went London again. In this time, the theme was “The Royal Family”, so I visited the place related to the family.

The first one is the Buckingham Palace. Ordinary, the palace is closed, but in the August and September, the queen stays another place (maybe Scotland) and they want to earn money to repair the Windsor castle because of its fire accident in 1990’s. The fee to enter the palace is really expensive, and I think they have already earned money for the castle…

There was some guards with the famous tall hats. That was bigger than guard’s face!

You cannot take photographs inside of the palace because of the issue of its security. But that was fabulous! Everything are shining, the room, spoon, knives&forks, chocolates, big big diamonds, etc… and the roof was really tall, like twice as tall as the normal building. I cannot explain that with my poor English anymore, but you should visit if you will visit London in Summer.

Then I walk along the street to the Westminster Abbey, I found some squirrels.

Westminster Abbey is known for the place where the funeral of princess Diana was held. Her wedding was held at the St. Paul cathedral. There are many famous people(almost royal families) buried at this abbey, but the “famous people” includes Issac Newton or Charles Darwin, related to Cambridge!

Then I walked along the street close to the Big Ben, and I found a crowd. There were police cars and bikes… but what’s happening? Even the police man in there didn’t know what will happen.

Few minutes later, so many bike racers came down the street! They were really fast. Actually, that was a day of Tour of Britain, sounds like Tour de France.

Then I arrived at Trafalgar square. There were some interesting monuments.

At Piccadilly Circus, the winner celebration was going on. It was the first time to see the champagne fight! I would rather drink it though.

Then I felt hungry, so I went to the restaurants I planned to go, but all of them were closed, so I walked around Soho, and found a Japanese restaurant.

They were not so expensive, but delicious. I was really happy to have Japanese cuisine, especially miso soup and sake. After that, I went to three pubs with drinking 1 glass of beer in each and went back to home.

It’s almost 1am… Good night … (-_-)zzz
